The July 11, 2007 minutes were approved as written.
President’s Report:
The President’s Report was deferred until New Business.
Treasurer’s Report:
Ed Price submitted his report and stated that the bill for water for plantings is only six or seven dollars
per month.
Committee Reports
Beautification:
No report. Whitney Snyder suggested that flowers be added to the garden areas around the HHHA
signage. A discussion took place concerning the cutting down of the trees surrounding the golf
course. The decision to do this belongs to the developer. A PGA consultant recommended that the
trees be removed. The stumps will be ground down and some areas replanted.
Club Liaison:
Debbie Melnik stated that nothing became of discussions of the Country Club to merge with Roanoke
Country Club. Whitney asked if the Country Club has any plans of being refurbished or if corporate
memberships exist which they do not. Debbie will investigate.
Government Liaison:
Joe Lemmer reported that VDOT has nothing in their 6 year budget to widen RT 220 and there is no
funding for I-73. Super Walmart is still hung up in court. Lights on their parking lot could affect our
community. There is no news regarding Slate Hill but development is occurring on Buck Mountain Road.
Membership Report:
No report.
Security & Safety Report:
Residents are warned about closing garage doors and locking cars over the holiday season.
Streets and Lights:
Sandi Cole was not in attendance but sent her written report. The holes on Peregrine Crest have been
reported to VDOT and are now fixed. The small square hole at the corner of Crossbow and HH Drive is
required for access. New families who moved in behind the Country Club have contacted about the
HHHA. The rip-rap is still to be finished on Hole 14 running parallel to Deerfield. No other problems
have been reported.
Old Business:
President Gary Powers reported on the Hunting Hills at Starkey Road. HHHA will pay for the landscaping
and Bo Willis will install the sign. Delta Dental wants to be able to remove the sign at any time with a 90-
day notice. The HHHA wants to install the sign temporarily and later replace it with an improved sign
which will be permanent. No response yet from Delta Dental but they have promised to respond before
the Annual Meeting.
The HHHA needs to form a sign committee for design and refurbishing the old signs. The Country Club
may want to have their sign match. Bo Willis likes green and gold. Whitney suggested charcoal grey
and gold.
New Business:
Officers Nominated for 2008
President Whitney Snyder
President –Elect Brian Carroll
Secretary-Linda Habermann
Treasurer-Ed Price
Parliamentarian-Gary Powers
Representatives are needed in Valley, Piedmont, Mountain and Midlands Districts.
Any Other Business:
The General Membership Meeting is Thursday, November 15, 2007. Refreshments will include appetizers
and one drink ticket and a cash bar. Officer Rick Crozier is the guest speaker and the Country Club will
also say a few words. Gary reported that 70% of HH residents belong to HHHA. Ed Price suggested that
there must be a better way of identifying new resident than word of mouth.
Whitney asked for any volunteers for the sign committee and Gary said he would send an E-mail asking
for volunteers.
Meeting adjourned 8:45.
Respectfully submitted
Linda Habermann
Secretary
