BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE
Our Homeowners Association and Old heritage Corporation are jointly purchasing new stonework frame and granite-face signs for the Starkey Road and Rt 220/Crossbow entrances. The signs will be erected late this fall or early next spring. Our share of the cost of this project is estimated to be $16,000 to $17,000. After the new signs are completed, we will be landscaping the surrounding areas, including the other sides of the streets. At the Hunting Hills Drive and 220S entrance, the wooden signs will remain and we will be improving the existing landscaping there. Weeding and mulching will be continued as necessary in all common areas. The Board has engaged the services of James Okeyo (Ph.D Hort) to carry out landscaping and maintenance programs throughout the neighborhood. Dr. Okeyo has planted or transplanted trees and shrubs, pruned, weeded, thinned perennials, mulched and carried out any other tasks that were necessary to improve our common grounds. The Board has also been responsible for regular mowing of grass at the Crossbow entrance while Old Heritage Corporation has continued responsibility for mowing at the other entrances and along various grass verges throughout the neighborhood.
Congratulations Hunting Hills Homeowners for making 2004 campaign a huge success. 78% of the residents joined and all 6 districts showed significant increases. The Scenic District may once again claim bragging rights for their first place finish and 88% participation. Other district results are: Midlands 82%, Mountain 74%, Valley 74%, Plateau 71% and the Piedmont District with 70%. We hope to continue our growth in 2005 with 100% of the residents joining our association. The Hunting Hills Directory was published and mailed in late March and we ask that you let us know when new residents move into your district so we can send them a directory and welcome letter. Thank you for your support and please welcome your new membership committee who will take over April 1.
The function of the Streets and Lights Committee is to insure that the roads are maintained, the damaged street signs are repaired, and burned out street lights are replaced. All street light outages that were reported have been repaired or replaced.

GOVERNMENT LIAISON COMMITTEE
I-73 Subcommittee - as was announced in the newspaper, the new I-73 corridor will be down Route 220 past Hunting Hills and Clearbrook. I attended the VDOT meeting outlining details of the route and will provide information to those interested. Current opinion is that construction would not begin before 10 years, if ever.
The goal of the Security Committee is to keep you informed of any threatening or dangerous events that occur in the neighborhood. The Security Committee receives crime reports from the Roanoke County Police Department and looks for trends or patterns of crime. Please continue to be vigilant. We launched the Hunting Hills Neighborhood Watch Program to include installation of Neighborhood Watch signs at all entrances and a mail-out of crime prevention information to all residents. Established working liaison with Roanoke County Police Crime Watch Division meeting at least quarterly on issues of neighborhood crime reporting and prevention. Requested increased patrols by Roanoke County Police in Hunting Hills.
